Day 29
Wow! Really day 29 already, only 2 more days to be strict. Like Michelle brought up yesterday, curious to hear what's around the corner for everyone on day 31. Plan on keeping it up, or happy to toss it out the window?
Any gains or loss to report, improvement in energy?
Have a great sunny Monday!

One thing that I love about working in Victoria is my fave breakfast place...
B: Yam omelette, bacon, avocado, black coffee
I could eat this every day of my life and be happy!!!
Yam omelette? sounds delicous. :)
Breakfast:
1 grapefruit w black coffee
1hr later after dropping Olivia to school and going grocery
2 eggs, turkey and avocado, more black coffee and couldn't resist a slice of banana loaf
B: 2 eggs over easy, sausage, fruit salad (cantaloupe, kiwi, strawberries, grapefruit) & coffee
S: banana & berry smoothie with almond milk
L will be: leftover veggie curry & chicken breast, nectarine
Been mulling over what the rest of my Paleo life will look like. I'm not jonesing for anything in particular. I definitely won't stay as strict but won't go back to pre-Paleo life either. It will take a lot more than 30 days to change the way I eat entirely. What baffles me is that I haven't felt ANY gains or losses. I know that not every type of "diet" is right for everyone. So maybe my body isn't that intolerant to all of these foods we've banished. Haven't gotten very far with Paleo Solution yet...might shed some more light on this issue for me. 90/10 might be a little strict...80/20 might be more realistic.
Two things DEFINITELY making a comeback: wine & lattés. I have some catching up to do!! :P
B: 2 soft boiled eggs, turkey slices, pineapple, grapefruit, coffee
S: apple
L: salad w/ turkey, avocado, peppers, carrots, mushrooms, lemon juice, evoo
Weighed myself the other day, I'm down 13lbs since the beginning of this, I'm not trying to lose the weight, it's just happening. I'm hoping it doesn't continue!
Eggs/sausage/bacon/fruit
bunless burger, banana/orage
Lara bar/apple/nuts
Dinner TBD...hoping for a decent selection at the delightful Florenceville Motor Inn!
pre-wod snack:
ants on a log
dinner:
grabbed a few pieces of pineapple while waiting for dinner to heat up
starting to feel like ground hog day but w Scott and Olivia not eating much tonight was left overs pork chops again, fried some mushrooms and apples to go w it and shared a baked sweet potatoe w Olivia
stuffed now...no room for dessert...not that I can have any;)
Jenny, where is this place in Victoria? Is it the blue fox?
Breakfast was egg whites with salsa, extreme green smoothie, no black coffee this morning because my machine was acting up and I was groggy all day... hmm not a good sign.
Pre-wod snack was a lara bar and an apple.
Dinner was steak & salad with a grapefruit for dessert.
As I haven't gone the full 30 days yet I won't be going near my scale until I'm done. Not feeling a huge difference though.
Lauren - the restaraunt is called Mole. It's soooo good. I am going again tomorrow for sure :)
Lunch was a big salad with salmon, tomato, avocado, cucumber, seeds and basil vinagrette.
Snack: banana
Dinner was a salad from Earls with chicken, beets, pears, arugula and citrus dressing.
I am taking a few rest days from the gym...unless I make it to the one in my hotel tomorrow which is unlikely!
One more day!!!
Paleo went out the window a few days ago for us. It was too much to handle and was just adding stress to our lives instead of improving our well being.
It was a worthwhile experiment. The good aspects were discovering new foods and home roasting nuts. The failures were the affirmation of my dislike of coconut and the work necessary for making all of your own food from scratch. I really don't like Lara bars.
I haven't really noticed much difference in my energy levels, sleep or alertness other than post workout and the day after a big workout. I attribute that to my not eating enough carbs.
I have been eating dairy, oatmeal and wheat again and may have experienced some side effects of adding wheat back in with a bit of an over dose on Saturday. I'm definitely going to monitor how much white flour I eat.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with food in that if I get bored I just don't eat. I need variety and I found that difficult with the restrictions of strict Paleo.
I'm not going to try to put a number to how much I will follow the guidelines but will try to use what I've learned to make informed and intelligent decisions about what I eat.
Dinner: Went to sobey's and bought a roast chicken and a premade side salad. bananas/blueberries/raspberries/almonds.
They had packaged hard boiled eggs which I bought along with some sliced ham to have for breakfast.
Still fighting a cough and fatigue from my cold so havn't worked out since Tuesday. Shoulder is also still quite sore. No complaints diet wise.
