Day 6

Day 6, in many ways this is easier than I expected, last time I attempted this I had failed badly by day 5. I haven't seen a huge drop in energy yet. But I do feel slightly grumpy every time I wake up to another breakfast of eggs.

Have a great day! Weekends are a little tougher, stay strong, post meals to comment and read all your food labels!

Annie :)

Good morning!

I woke up feeling GRREEAAT this morning despite a 3am wake up call by Molly to be let out...and since I'm in an apt, letting out means getting dressed & going for a walk. Not fun...

Breakfast: turkey smokie, fruit salad, black coffee (finally, an egg-free breakfast!)

Off to 10am Xfit...maybe see some of you there??

Post WOD: apple + 1/2 larabar

Lunch: salad with tomatoes, peppers, carrots, 1/2 avo, 1/2 can of tuna, a few roasted almonds. Lemon juice as dressing (surprisingly palatable!)

Feeling really great!

Not sure how I feel yet. Sleep is too big a variable for me.

Breakfast: Eggs with some great apple pork sausages from Rio's. Fruit salad

Post WOD: Banana and biltong

Lunch: Grilled chicken (olive oil, ginger, garlic, lemon), vegetables, sweet potato fries.

Found some good jerky at Rio's as well. If interested, I can approach to see if he'd give us a bulk price? Right now $25/lb.

Dinner: Will be Lamb&sage diced sausage in rainbow chard, onion, veg, stir fry.

Breakfast is still a conundrum for me. I felt really full today after breakfast and a little nauseous...I think it's just too rich for me sausage and eggs when I first wake up, but on the other end, it did keep me full until now and it's 1:30! Other days I am starved after a couple of hours.

I will experiment w maybe only a little fruit first and a delayed breakfast...

Breakfast:
2 pork and apple sausages w 2 eggs and fruit salad

Lunch:
chicken tighs left over w roasted sweet potatoes and a side salad

I know going to the movies tonight, not looking forward to smelling all the popcorn around me. But sadly corn is out! :(

Knight, I think clean eating and butting out in the same week is big! I am surprised you are not shivering in pain in a corner! Good work today, you made the wall climb look way too easy!

Snack:
half an Asian pear a few grapes and 2 turkey pepperoni sticks.

What Scott said he was making for dinner. My favorite lamb and sage sausage from Rio! yummy

Snack: almonds, some dried fruit (found a great no sugar added selection at Whole Foods...picked up mango, apple & cherries but it cost me a pretty penny!)

Dinner: Bison burger w/ a dollop of Paleo-friendly guacamole (sans bun, of course), roasted peppers, sweet potatoes & broccoli. Not huge on things with 4 legs but bison is delicious!! I'm going to have to expand my meat & fish choices. I can only handle so much chicken & salmon...

Dessert: not sure yet... :)

Pre WOD: 1/2 apple, 1/2 pear, 1/2 orange

Breakfast/lunch: 2 sausages, mushroom and onions, 2 eggs over easy (to make things a bit different...)

Snack: almonds, 1 apple

Dinner: salad (with grapes, cucumber, tomatoes, golden berries - yuk!, celery, carrots, sunflower seeds) + smoked salmon

Contemplating the idea of making some paleo banana nut muffins. Going for a walk to the grocery store. To be continued...

Muffins are done! Geoff liked it, I liked it, so we'll definitely repeat this recipe in a near future.

Here's the link:
http://stevepaleo.blogspot.com/2009/03/chelseas-paleo-banana-nut-muffins.html

Changes I made or what I did that wasn't in the instructions:
-no agave sweetener
-used food processor for coconut and walnuts

What I will do differently next time:
-use darker bananas
-use our old coffee grinder (which has a blade) to make walnuts and coconut more powder like

Adding a few dates in there would be delicious.

You guys should try it! It's nice to finally be able to eat something with a bread like texture!

hmm...just when I was getting over my craving for baked goods, I'm presented with a muffin I'm allowed to have?! Tomorrow was going to be a cooking day...it may now be a baking day too! Just need to go get some coconut... Thanks for sharing, Annie!

Dessert: 2 mandarin oranges & tea

Michelle, make sure to get organic coconut, or the type that doesn't have all sorts of weird names in the ingredient list...

You should try to add some dates in the recipe!
